EDUCATION

Working towards Master of Science Degree in Library Science, Southern Connecticut State University,  New Haven, CT

                  Courses included foundation courses in librarianship and technology, collection development, services for adults, digital libraries, research and evaluation, library management with an emphasis on college and university libraries.

Master of Arts Degree in Museum Studies, Fashion Institute of Technology, State  University of New York, New York, NY. 

Costume and Textile Department, under the direction of then Dean Richard Martin. Degree requirements included study of Historic Houses, with emphasis on American architecture, furniture, decorative arts, textiles and costumes. The variety of courses included textile history with Rachel Kemper, ethnic costumes and 20th century design with Valerie Steele and textile structure with Desiree Koslin and museum storage practices with Betty Kirke.

Bachelor of Arts Degree in French and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History, Saint Joseph College, West Hartford, CT. 

Included courses devoted to American painting and decorative arts. The course on nineteenth century American decorative arts was conducted at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, CT. with Dorothy Keller. Other courses included the the study of lighting, pottery, porcelains and glassware, and furniture. Courses for the French degree were mainly taken in France and included French history, language, phonetics, art, music and literature.


WORK EXPERIENCE

Sterling Memorial Library, Yale University, New Haven, CT.

              Catalog Assistant for the Preservation Department. Worked with copy cataloging of microfilm. Worked in group to prepare, clean and stabilize folios for transportation. Worked on project to rehouse pamphlet collection in new boxes. Quality control of digitized newspapers and special collections. Quality control of reprinted books.  

Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY. 

              Part of team focused on multiple contractual exhibition assignments for the Upholstery Conservation Department. Responsible for preparation of objects for exhibition and storage, compiling object file information, conservation and restoration. Worked on permanent installations in the English and American rooms and on special exhibits like the Lannuier and the Havemeyer Collection shows.

Hudson River Museum, Yonkers, NY. 

             Assisted in restoration of a three-piece parlor set for a new installation of the Glenview Mansion.

Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, CT. 

             Assistant Registrar. Responsibilities included cataloguing, registration, insurance, logistics and organizational issues for permanent collection and travel exhibits. The position required maintenance of object files and storage facilities, help in the public access object information and courier duties.

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, CT.

             Year long Graduate Assistantship under Dr. Jan Quan Liu. Helped work with Dr. Liu to prepare proposals for classes. Helped promote summer course in China. Assisted in preparing a study sheet for a class final exam. Participated as presenter at conference.  

L’Ecole du Louvre, Paris, France. 

             Summer course in French decorative arts, furniture and paintings with day long classes at the Louvre, Malmainson and the Musee de Chantilly.

 L’Universite Catholique de L’Ouest, Angers, France. 

             One year of study at the “Centre International des Etudes Francaises”. With focus With focus on French art history, literature, music, history, language towards Bachelor of Arts Degree in French.

Universytet Jagiellonski, Krakow, Poland. 

           Summer studying Polish art history, studio art, and taking part in a two week En Plein Air excursion in the historic town of Cieszyn.

          

INTERNSHIPS

Cheshire Academy Library, Cheshire, CT.

            Month long internship at school library for "Foundations of Librarianship" course with Dr. Williams. Work included learning basic librarian skills working with cataloging, reference, collection development, circulation, preparation and writing library mission statement and policies and procedures document. Also, helped with move of library from old building to new facility.

Old Merchant’s House, New York, NY. 

            Semester long group project cataloguing and preparing textile museum objects for storage before museum was to undergo architectural restructuring.

Muzeum Narodowe w Warszawie, Warsaw, Poland.

            Summer internship at the National Museum in Warsaw preparing tapestries, rugs and textiles for storage. Researched Polish male costume for Masters thesis.

Textile Conservation Workshop, South Salem, NY. 

            Six-month internship and employment preparing condition reports, researching and conserving American quilts, samplers, flags, banners, tapestries and costumes. Conducted surveys at local museums and historical societies and prepared analyses of storage facilities and exhibit areas and created proposals for improvements.

The Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, CT. 

            Semester long Curatorial Internship for Costume and Textile Department Cataloguing and researching costume collection for exhibit preparation. Helped prepare costumes and accessories, co-designed and produced mannequin head coverings for installation and travel exhibit. 

Musee d’Angers, Angers, France. 

Month long internship researching artist information and creating files for new installation of contemporary tapestries at the museum.
